The girls and I had a nice day out visiting yesterday. Today, a frantic attempt to get caught up on chores and to make some progress on special projects. I’m not optimsitic.

I’m getting closer to understanding the motivation problem. Consider how I think: Mostly analytical and orderly. I like to study things to pieces, and then make a plan and execute. Shoot, the only part I’m missing is the execute. If I can tie that back to my other strengths … maybe with the scorekeeping, maybe with a good firm schedule …
It’s not impossible. Nothing’s impossible. Hard to see, sometimes. But not impossible.
The “problem” with restricting myself to a 5 N-s/motor ceiling is that my flights will be largely with Estes motors. Buy Estes motors, get Estes igniters. Yes, they’re relatively inexpensive. Yes, with the plastic plug buttons they’re pretty reliable. But they’re still not as reliable as the Quest Q2G2 igniter, I can’t easily use them with Quest motors (nozzle size differences), and they require 5 to 10 times more current to fire. That’s more demand on the battery. Oh, well. Choices have consequences. Who knew?
This post has nothing to do with the reorganization of my motor supplies and the discovery that I have far more Estes igniters than I have motors (of any kind).
I’m running an experiment on myself, starting Sunday and continuing indefinitely, with preliminary results to be assessed at the end of May and an intermediate assessment in mid-August at the earliest. I’m predicting (optimistically) that in fall I’ll need to adjust the experiment inputs some, refine the experiment design a little further. And then … well, and then we’ll see.
I know I’m supposed to be shouting, “I’ll show you! I’ll show you ALL!” But actually, I’m not going to announce any more specifics. I’ll offer updates in May and fall, if I can restrain myself from cackling with glee.
Make of that what you will.
Find a hole in the clouds and fill it with rocket. Congrats to the Ares I-X Team on today’s flight. A few stray thoughts:

So, the first ads for Motorola’s “Droid” smartphone are flying thick and fast. Am I interested? Sure. Can I afford one? Heck no. Could I afford an iPhone? Likewise no to the device and no to the wireless plan to support the device. Nor can I even approach the least expensive iPod touch.
But this brings me to reflection on what materials and information I like to (or need to) keep about my person. Ready to take a tour of my daypack? Here’s what I carry every day:

A bit on the long side; settle in for another jaunt down Memory Lane.

Star Trek (TOS) Roleplaying Game, and Narrator’s Toolkit and Screen from LUG. Nice books, don’t really suit me. In good shape. Make me an offer; shipping is (holds up his hand, fingers spread) FIVE BUCKS.
It’s Ketchup Season. heheheheheh.
